I was elected last meeting, and now that my eyesight is back (cataract surgery & recovery from detached retina surgery last year), I took time to browse a little. It is a blessing to see normally once again - THANKS BE TO GOD - I no longer need eyeglasses for distance vision.

Fr. Rollins Lambert, the first African American to be ordained a priest from the Archdiocese of Chicago, died Jan, 25 at Holy Family Villia in Palos Park. He was 86. Fr. Lambert rose to national prominence as chairman of the Black Catholic Clergy Caucus in the late 1960’s. • 40th National Joint Conference - Update!
This is just a courtesy email to let you know that the block of rooms reserved for the Joint Conference has already sold out. The hotel has released 25 additional rooms for each night but the rate has increased to $149.00 per night. If you plan to attend the Joint Conference and have not already made your hotel reservation, you may want to consider doing that soon. If you have to cancel your room, you made do so up to 24 hours prior to check-in. The Embassy Suites does not charge your credit card until you actually check in so it is better to go ahead and make the reservation and hold the room before they sell out. You can always cancel it later if necessary but if you wait too late you may not be able to get a room.

The nearest other hotel (The Marriott Renaissance) has no rooms available until Wednesday, July 30 and their rate is $179.00/night. The Capitol Inn is just two blocks from the Embassy Suites but is VERY DATED and the reviews posted on Hotels.com are not very complimentary. There are several other hotels in Montgomery but none other within walking distance of the Conference hotel. Note that complimentary parking at the Embassy Suites is provided to overnight guests only. Otherwise, there is a $5.00 parking fee.
